MEET THE TRAINING TEAM

Lynn Martin
Managing Director / Senior Consultant Trainer
M.A B.Ed, Dip.Couns, Dip.Sup. MNCH(Acc)
Lynn worked as a teacher and Community Education Tutor, for over 20 years. This involved working extensively with children and young people in groups and on a one to one basis. She has a Masters Degree in Professional Studies (Counselling), an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and a Specialist Skills Certificate in Counselling Children and Adolescents. She is also an accredited hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner and is training as a Transactional Analyst Psychotherapist.
She works extensively as a freelance trainer and consultant, and specialises in developing new courses and in house training programmes, both in the caring professions and within the commercial world. Lynn is also a qualified and experienced counselling supervisor.
As a member of the BACP she works to their ethical framework for counsellors, supervisors and trainers.
Lynn currently offers a free counselling service for local young people alongside her private counselling practice.

Richard G. Erskine, Ph.D.
Associate Trainer
Training Director at the Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy in the USA, Dr Erskine is a clinical psychologist with three decades of experience in the clinical practice and teaching of psychotherapy. He has specialized in the treatment of severely disturbed children, run a therapeutic community in a maximum security prison, and conducted a psychotherapy practice specializing in the treatment of obsession, dissociation, and schizoid processes.
In 1972, as a professor at the University of Illinois, Dr. Erskine developed the initial concepts of Integrative Psychotherapy. By 1976 he established the Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy in New York City and each year teaches the theory and methods in several other countries and at other training facilities in the USA.
He is the author of four books and numerous articles on the practice of psychotherapy.

Deborah Forte - Associate trainer
Adv. Dip. Couns; Cert. FE.
Deborah Forte is an inspirational trainer with a wealth of experience in a number of specialist issues, particularly in the areas of Domestic Violence and Self Harm. She also has a particular interest in story, dream work, metaphor and symbolism and the practical application of this within the therapeutic setting.
She worked for Womens Aid for seven years, regionally and nationally, providing support for women and children who have experienced Domestic Abuse and was active in setting up South Devons first Outreach Provision consisting of a Help-line and a befriending/advocacy service. She has designed and delivered packages to Outreach and Refuge Workers, Social Services, Midwives, District Judges and Magistrates, Housing Officers, Police, Victim Support and various Voluntary Agencies in order to promote sensitive and informed support for those affected by Domestic Abuse.
Womens Aid Federation England employed her as a national trainer to assist regional branches in setting up qualitative outreach provision
In the past few years she has worked as a Community Development Worker and has also set up a free and confidential counselling service for the Coalition of Disabled People in South Devon. This service was designed to meet the needs of adults and children affected by disability.
She has an Advanced Diploma in Counselling, a post qualifying Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People and a Certificate in Teaching Further Education. She works as a counsellor for Cruse and has her own private practice. As a member of BACP she abides by their ethical framework for counsellors and trainers.

Della Menday - Associate Trainer
Adv.Dip.Int.Coun, Cert: Coun. Children and Young People, B.A. Cert.Ed.
Della has an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling, a Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Children and Adolescents and is currently undertaking a Masters Degree in Play Therapy.
Dellas professional career has encompassed all aspects of childcare, both in the voluntary and statutory sectors, over thirty years. She has had considerable experience of working with young children and their parents. Whilst Head Teacher of an Inner London School she pioneered play techniques within the school day for individual children experiencing emotional and behavioural problems.
She has continued to work with troubled children, as an early years specialist and more recently, as a counsellor for children and young adolescents. She has her own private practice in Devon and Cornwall.
She works within the framework of the BACP and PTUK codes of ethics.

Peter Jenkins - Associate Trainer
BA (Hons) Soc; CQSW; MA(Econ); Cert ED; DMS; MA Counselling; BACP Accred Counsellor Trainer.
Peter Jenkins is a BACP Accredited Counsellor Trainer, a member of the BACP Professional Conduct Committee, and Lecturer in Counselling at Manchester University.
He has written widely on legal aspects of counselling, and has a particular interest in legal issues relating to work with children and young people.
He is co-author with Debbie Daniels of Therapy with Children: Children's Rights, Confidentiality and the Law (Sage, 2000) and Children's Rights (Pavilion, in press).
Quality Training UK is an organisation member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Awarding Body Consortium (ABC) approved centre.

David Jones - Associate Trainer
M.A., pg. Dip Counselling
David has a Masters degree in Counselling Studies and a postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from the University of Brighton. He is also a qualified teacher.
David works as a counsellor in private practice with individuals, couples and groups, working with adults and young people. He describes his way of working as person-centred and has also counselled for Addaction, The St Thomas Fund for the Homeless, Cruse and YAC. While counselling with YAC he worked as a school counsellor in a troubled secondary school that was facing closure. He uses creative approaches such as sand-tray work, puppetry, art and play to facilitate contact with young people
David is currently the tutor on two counselling courses at Varndean College in Brighton, teaching Initial Counselling Skills for Working with Young People and Intermediate Counselling Skills. David also trains Addaction staff in Brighton on counselling related issues.
He is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and is bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein.

Heather Harwood
Director – Young Peoples Mental Health Team / AssociateTrainer
Dip.Couns;Cert.Grief & Bereavement Couns; Cert.Sexual Abuse Couns; LAMDA Bronze/Silver Medals
Heather has worked with young people for nearly 20 years. She has a background in counselling and youth work having managed a number of major recreational and mental health projects in both England and Australia. She also has experience in residential and detached youth work settings; has run her own counselling practice; devised and taught various counselling courses and has been a trainer and tutor in adult and outdoor education.
During her eight years in Australia she managed the ‘After Care Department’ of Barnardos Australia, then made a change of career to directing a State-wide environmental program in New South Wales for Keep Australia Beautiful. In this post she travelled vast distances viewing a multitude of diverse projects. She also developed a series of training programmes for teams of assessors to evaluate and grade these projects and their environmental benefit to Australia as a whole.
Heather has recently completed a novel which she hopes to get published.
Returning to the UK in 2004 Heather is currently employed with Quality Training UK where she promotes their In House Training and works as an Associate Trainer.

Carol Paterson INLPTA. MAR.
Assocate Trainer
Carol has valuable experience in facilitating, training, development and change in a variety of contexts and situations in the public, private and voluntary sectors, working with a number of enterprises and individual clients in the UK and abroad.
She is currently a trainer with the Department of Health, implementing a National lay-lead self-management programme. This is a successful NHS mainstream initiative for people living with long-term medical conditions, recently awarded the Guardians Public Services award for Diversity & Equality.
Originally from a finance and business background, Carol combines her highly developed planning, organisational and presentation skills, with her passion and enthusiasm for personal development work, which she has been involved with for many years. As a practitioner & teacher of aromatherapy and reflexology & an NLP practitioner, she enjoys the process of supporting and motivating others, communicating her knowledge of life-enhancement skills and the value of an holistic approach to physical and emotional health and well-being.

Sue Mewse MICB
Finance Administrator
Sue has been a freelance certified Book Keeper for the past nine years. She has always worked in administration and accounts roles prior to becoming self employed.
Sue has worked with Quality Training UK since 2002, dealing with all finance matters as well as day to day general administration. She loves talking and would be more than happy to chat with you about your training needs when you call. Her working hours 9:00am to 2:30pm Mondays and Wednesdays.


Lucy Campbell BA Hons
Administrator & Events Co-ordinator
Lucy is a trained silversmith and jeweller, based in Lyme Regis, Dorset. She studied for her degree in ‘Silversmithing & Metalwork’ at Camberwell College of Arts in London and graduated in July 2005. Since finishing university Lucy has returned home to the West Country to start up her own business, making and selling jewellery and silver work.
Lucy joined the team at Quality Training UK in March 2006 to work part-time whilst she builds up her own business. Her role within the company is mainly administrative, ensuring the smooth running of the office and providing customer support by telephone and email. Lucy is also responsible for organising and co-ordinating the training events at QTUK.
